The Volunteer Event



You will be representing PwC so there are a few things to keep in mind:

All project details (date, location, times, activities, outcomes etc.) will be confirmed and communicated to participating volunteers by the Corporate Responsibility team 

Ensure that project details (date, location, times, activities, outcomes etc.) have been confirmed with the benefitting/ partner organisation 

The Corporate Responsibility team will plan a visit to the volunteering site before hand to review the facilities to ensure they are adequate to carry out the volunteering activities (access to bathroom facilities, safety procedures etc.)

All volunteers will be issued with an event brief by the Corporate Responsibility team so that they know what is expected of them on the day

Volunteers are required to ensure that they have obtained approval from their Line Managers to participate in the volunteering opportunity

Ensure that all participating volunteers have obtained approval from their Line Manager to participate in the volunteering opportunity

Print a copy of the attendance register template from the Volunteer Portal and make sure you have it with you onsite

A contingency plan will be made by the Corporate Responsibility team in case of bad weather

Onsite: Tools, materials & refreshments

Opportunity Administrators are responsible for procuring and organising the appropriate tools and materials to complete the volunteering activities
Opportunity Administrators are responsible for procuring and organising the appropriate tools and materials to complete the volunteering activities
The Corporate Responsibility team will ensure that adequate refreshments are available for participating volunteers
Opportunity Administrators are responsible for procuring and organising adequate refreshments for participating volunteers



Onsite: Administration

The Corporate Responsibility team will brief volunteers on the safety procedures prior to the commencement of the volunteering activities 

Opportunity Administrators are responsible for ensuring that volunteers are briefed on the safety procedures prior to the commencement of the volunteering activities

Depending on the complexity of the activities, various tasks may be distributed amongst volunteers. The Corporate Responsibility team will ensure that volunteers are well briefed, understand and are comfortable with the tasks allocated to them 

Depending on the complexity of the activities, Opportunity Administrators may need to distribute tasks amongst volunteers. Volunteers are to be well briefed to ensure they understand and are comfortable with the tasks allocated to them

Volunteers will be required to sign an attendance register provided by the Corporate Responsibility team 

Opportunity Administrators must ensure that all volunteers sign an attendance register 



Before concluding a volunteering opportunity 

  • All volunteers should help with cleaning up the volunteering site 

  • Volunteers will be encouraged to engage in a reflection activity or discussion where everyone will be encouraged to examine their service and their personal experience 

  • Volunteers will be encouraged to provide feedback on their experience by completing a short survey off the Volunteer Platform

  • Share photos of the event on the Volunteer Portal 

  • Take note of any follow-up work/ contributions/ donations that may be required 


Things to remember throughout the volunteering opportunity 

  • You are a PwC representative and should always remember to conduct yourself in such a manner that you do not bring disrepute to either yourself or the PwC brand 

  • Use this engagement as an opportunity to build relationships with your fellow colleagues and the community representatives that you are supporting 

  • Enjoy the experience and always keep fun at the forefront of your engagements 

  • Take photos before, during and after your activities. Share these photos on the Volunteer Portal

  • Take note of positive aspects and elements that may need improvement
